Emily O'Connor

artist statement.

Emmy is an artist living and practising on Wurundjeri Country. She grew up on the lands of the Anaiwan and Kamilaroi people (New England region), and spent her childhood riding horses and playing on her family farm.

Her work draws inspiration from the rugged environment of her rural upbringing, as well as the urban environment of Melbourne in which she now resides. Her art often depicts scenes of revelry, exploring the role of food, music and booze in community life. Her use of continuous line drawing and contemporary painting techniques create a unique style that is flowing, vivid and playful.

Emmy is a proficient muralist, having created murals for iconic Melbourne venues such as The Wesley Anne and Edinburgh Castle. She works as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. You can view her full body of work at www.emmytara.com.
