Self Imposed Rules (1)
Dark Horse Experiment and Blender Studios presents:
Self Imposed Rules Solo exhibition by Craig Cole
Love street art; hate the tagging. This solo exhibition by Craig Cole presents fine art paintings and drawings offering deep respect for the graff writers and artists he has depicted. This collection demonstrates unparalleled skill in capturing the places and spaces these artists work their magic, and offers new perspectives into these unseen sites across Melbourne.
Cole has a unique ability to bridge graffiti and urban art with fine art. His years in the western suburbs of Melbourne as a graff kid has given him insight into this secluded and secretive world. His technical ability combined with unusual choices of location and composition gives him the ability to convey this world in a sensitive and almost nostalgic way.
Self Imposed Rules is a gift to hip hop, a cry for expression in the face of suppression, and is a rap on a canvas so fresh it’s dripping with Morning Dew. It’s through his brush that Cole weaves universal magic, a story, a vision, a swagger and a stoic lens into a life that most are afraid of. __________________________________________
