These crafts are unique and and hold many stories. Their colours will not only attract the wondering eye but come in many beautiful patterns. These designs hold a key element in Somali history, being the only handmade craft that’s been handed down by generations from mother to daughter. Allowing women to express themselves through their craftsmanship.
Muhubo Sulieman is the head weaver of Qaymi Arts and has been creating these woven masterpieces from the age of 5 from her mother and continues to teach her daughters these incredible designs. "These crafts are unique and are incredibly precious to me and developing it is like a dream come true as well as my hard work finally paying off. I aim to take this opportunity and make the best out of it and put in a lot of effort so that creative practise is recognised and appreciated"
